DATE: LOCATION: (18 miles north of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge) FEE: $275 ($225 if paid by 12/16/11; $250 if paid by 12/30/11) CE CREDITS: MCLE & BBS (6.0 hours); MCEP (6.5 hours to be submitted for review to MCEPAA for approval, Provider #NOR045). DESCRIPTION: The workshop will focus on advanced strategies and techniques for managing cases, ongoing conflict and provocative parent communications. Group exercises using complex dispute scenarios will enable participants to analyze issues and develop priorities for case management and decision-making. Participants will learn how to use social science research to motivate parents to change destructive behaviors, and will discuss techniques for dealing with noncompliance with court orders and Parenting Coordinator decisions. This workshop is for Parenting Coordinators who have prior core training in the role, functioning, and ethical issues associated with Parenting Coordination practice. About the Instructor: Dr. Joan Kelly, a research, forensic, and clinical psychologist, was Director of the Northern California Mediation Center for 19 years. Her research, writing, and practice has focused on children’s adjustment to divorce, custody and access issues, using child development research in parenting plans, divorce mediation, and Parenting Coordination. She has published more than 90 articles and chapters, and a classic book, Surviving the Breakup: How Children and Parents Cope with Divorce. Joan is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, has received the Distinguished Mediator Award from the Academy of Family Mediators, the Stanley Cohen Distinguished Research and the Meyer Elkin Awards from the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She is a frequent presenter and speaker in the United States, Canada, and abroad. |
